MAREND ZEIT
Round-the-clock and deadline-pressure affect us all, finding the time for the more important things in life is often difficult.

Take a timeout in our Hotel am Dorfplatz, get-together and sit down to a “Marend”

NEW for winter 2011 - 2012
from18.12.2011 - 9.4.2012
Our “Marend” time 4.30 p.m. - 6.00 p.m.
Let yourself be surprised.

The term “Marend” means an afternoon snack in-between meals, in the olden days food like pancakes, cooked potatoes often used to be part of this snack with the rural population and if possible a little wine, in addition there were sausages, cheese and of course home-baked bread.

What is offered as a “Tyrolean “Marend” today builds on the tradition and refines it. Cheese, ham and smoked meats, trout, crisp vegetables and fruits, radish, apple, cold roast pork, garlic and horseradish.... the finest quality from Tyrolean production if possible from our immediate region!
For all Tyrolean dishes traditionally local agricultural products are used: locally bred meats, game from the forests, fresh produce from our fields and gardens, and fish from our rivers.

It allows us have time for you, with a good drop of wine – then afterwards to drink a Tyrolean Schnaps with you - and as one says so beautifully in Tyrol “und a bißle z’ratsche” -to have a chat - as it was in the past.

“Marend” - still part of the Tyrolean culture
The “Marend” is a piece of Tyrolean enjoyment and sociability rolled into one. The concept “Marend” means namely not only the popular ploughman's lunch with original Tyrolean cold cuts, sausage and roast specialties, venison sausages, broiled smoked - chamois, roe deer, venison or wild boar, home made bread and different alpine cheeses.

But, the “Marend” is also the occasion on which one takes time to enjoy this typical palatable pleasure together. The wooden carving boards it is served on could tell you many an anecdote. But see for yourself! No airs and graces, tuck in and enjoy the finger food!

As you start wish each other the traditional Tyrolean greeting “ An Guatn” – “Enjoy”. Together with new friends made on holiday share the experience of a “Marend” a true feature of the Tyrolean way of life.

Typically Tyrolean - sweet or sour, cold or warm.
